Sorry, it's been awhile since we posted. There was some waiting for documents for the inspector to sign off and roofing issues. But with that said there is still progress and it's looking great. We're very happy with Ian's design and Carlyle's construction. As you can see the windows are all in and the house is totally insulated. The sheet rock is in place, ready to be put up.
The two exterior pictures show the front of the house, living room and kitchen windows, and our bedroom end of the house. It's an interesting picture with the reflection of the trees. Ian literally brought the outside in. Our outdoor shower is to the right of the bedroom door. The interior pictures are of windows above the gallery/living room and the living room with fireplace and windows. The natural light of the main room is amazing. Can't wait to be living there and have visitors!! Thanks for looking.

Wintery Wiring
Let there be lights...well almost. The electricians are hard at it to create lighting eventually. Winter is really hanging on providing us with a little more snow and low 30's temperatures.
There are more windows in and a couple exterior doors. No roof as of yet.
Last weekend Ron was ready to do some cleanup and Eric told him the electricians will just make a mess anyway. Boy was he right.
The pictures are down the gallery to the door near our bedroom. Entry area waiting for the door; cans in the kitchen and a view of the end of the house that will house the BBQ. We will be having a few BBQ's this summer....we'd love to have you join us!! Thanks for looking.

Windows!
Everyday it starts feeling more like a home. Ron and Eric Amerson have started putting in the windows. We've had a walk through about lighting and I believe the electrician is starting today. The fireplace is in place and I'm meeting the cabinet maker again today to finalize the cabinets. Yesterday, with Ian and Bethany's great input, we spent time looking at tile and brought home the shower tile. Our nephew Kurt Crawford will be doing the tile for us. There are so many pieces and parts but it's coming together. The top picture is obviously the fireplace and living room, bottom right picture is the guest room windows and last picture are windows along the kitchen sink counter. Can't wait!!! Thanks for looking.

Our house is really taking shape and now has the first sign of some color. The facias and outside exposed beams have been stained a brown color to match the roof. The sheeting and felt material is on all the roof areas with the roofing maybe to happen this week. You can see the patio areas on each end of the house. On the kitchen/garage end of the house there is an open BBQ area and we hope to plumb the BBQ to a large tank that will also service the gas fireplace. (No more running to town to get a tank filled.) On our bedroom end of the house is a sitting area and will someday include a hot tub.
All of the framing now appears to be complete and the interior of the house has taken shape. We may have actually over planned for bookcases which will be great. Some place to put all of the books plus the curios that we have collected in our travels.
Because we are not the ones having to do the work we love just going up to the house and "putzing" around. Will head there once we are done with this. Can't wait to be in and have you visit.

Great Progress!
In the last week, since the snow melted, we've seen such wonderful changes in the house. It's really taking shape and we love it. The paper under the metal roof is being layed down on the back half of the house. The most exciting thing is rafters over the living area so we could really see what the main living area of the house will look like. The second picture is taken from the living room looking towards the kitchen. What great windows at my kitchen sink to view beautiful trees...Thanks to Dad for those beautiful trees. The bottom picture is looking into the living room area windows. We mentioned before we wanted to bring the outdoors in....Ian did a great job!
We're busy picking out roof color, siding color and trim color. So many choices and decisions and for the most part we're loving it.

Last Exterior Walls
When we asked Ian to design the house so that it didn't take away from the feeling we had when we were up there in the woods, we had no idea that he would be able to make it feel like we were living "in" the woods. He has done an unbelievable job of doing just that. Now we can see what we will see out of the kitchen and the living room.
The pictures show Peggy standing in the kitchen, a shot the other direction through the dining room to the living room end and side walls, and a picture looking down the gallery past our bedroom.. The living room side wall will have windows almost to the ground and you can see that there are windows yet to be cut out above the windows that are obvious.
The kitchen sink will be in front of where Peg is standing and there will be kitchen cabinets all under the windows and around to cover the wall behind her. May make doing dishes a little more fun. (Or not.)
The ends of the gallery will have a 4' clear glass door that will lead outside and the big window above it is not fully cut out at this time.
The guys have the 2" x 12" there for the rafters on the second half so maybe by the end of next week it will all be framed in and we can start drying it out.
We are so thrilled with how the house is taking shape. Have a great day. We are.

Whew, the snow is melting!
The snow is finally melting. For quite a few days it was impossible to even get to the house or for others in the area to get out. Luckily it doesn't happen real often. Ron and I shoveled wet snow in part of the open area. That was a big job.
Ron and Eric Amerson have been working hard this week making up for lost days. Yesterday we saw the front wall of the house framed, laying on the living area floor, and ready to be stood up. We're excited for that wall to go up. The picture back towards the gallery shows a big beam across the top. That is an open area by the dining room looking back towards the gallery and bookshelves. It will all make more sense as time goes on.
Happy New Year from the Gelbrichs!
